Nature Abounds on the Space Coast

Friday, May 15th, 2009

There are more than 250 square miles of wildlife refuge surrounded by estuaries, the Indian River Lagoon, bird nesting areas and manatee and dolphin homes. Birding and wildlife observers come in droves to The Space Coast.  The country’s most popular birding festival, The Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival is held here each January.

Endangered species can be found, including the Bald Eagle.  Visitors can kayak through pods of manatees and dolphins or go deep sea fishing on the ocean.  Sea turtles continually select Space Coast beaches as their top returning nesting areas. Brevard County has an award-winning zoo, the Brevard Zoo.

Florida’s Space Coast: Something for Everyone

Friday, May 15th, 2009

The Space Coast of Florida has something to offer all ages and all types of visitors, from families to couples and groups, it’s the place to be.

Known as the “Space Coast” because of its historic space relationship, the region offers an exciting stretch of 72 miles of beach, the longest span of undisturbed beach in Florida, with the most beach access in any Florida county.

Visitors can have fun ranging from surfing and nightlife in the north to romantic secluded getaways in the south, and find a perfect nature hike or jog along the ocean.

Located on the Eastern Coast of Florida and spanning from Cocoa Beach to the exciting Historic Downtown Melbourne, be ready for a unique, all-encompassing trip which offers a casual sophistication and plenty of history. And restaurants satisfy the tastes of visitors whether they’re seeking dining al fresco in a downtown setting or dockside in a nautical venue.

Take a paddle in a kayak and observe nature up close along the Indian River Lagoon. The lagoon is a remarkable setting to get a glimpse of exotic birds, manatees, dolphins and other water creatures.

Unique shopping abounds in areas like the Eau Gallie Arts District and Historic Downtown Melbourne, and about 1,450 restaurants offer a variety of dining experiences.

Whether it’s an adventurous vacation, a serene beachside getaway or more, Florida’s Space Coast has something to fulfill virtually every travel interest.
